Using our Record a conversation tool, you can record and automatically upload up to three hours of audio at a time using any mobile or desktop device that has a built-it, bluetooth, or plug-in microphone.
For the best experience:
- Use a device that is less than five years old
- Plug in your laptop or recording device
- Do a test run!
From the homepage, click For Hosts. In the dropdown box, click Record a conversation.
Under Collection, use the dropdown box to select the collection your conversation will be added to.
Title your conversation. Use the Search bar to type where your conversation took place. You can search by city, zip code, or specific location.
If your conversation will be conducted in Spanish, click the Language dropdown box and select Español. Otherwise, leave English selected. Enter the Number of participants, including yourself.
Click Record conversation.
Your browser will request permissions for Fora to access your device’s default microphone. Click Allow.
Once Fora is successfully connected to your microphone, the “X” will change to a purple “✓” and the name of the connected microphone will display. If you want to use a different microphone for any reason, click Update Microphone. Select the desired microphone from the dropdown and click Save.
When you are ready to begin your conversation, click Begin recording. When someone is speaking, this should be reflected in the waveform. If the waveform is flat while speaking, your microphone is most likely not picking up sound.
To end and discard your conversation, click the “X” in the top left corner of the window. A warning message displays. Click Yes, I’m sure to end and discard the conversation, or Stay here to continue recording the conversation. If you click Yes, I’m sure, your conversation audio file will be deleted and will not be transcribed.
To save down your conversation, click Finish. This cannot be undone. Your conversation will be saved in draft mode and will be transcribed within 24 hours.
If you’d like to record another conversation, click Record another conversation.
