The Hearth is our conversation facilitation device. We built this device to sit in the center of an intimate (3-8 people) in-person conversation. It has an audio speaker and microphone to record audio and play back highlights.
We designed the Hearth to look and feel like an object you’d find in a familiar home living room. The cherry wood, and fabric are meant to be touched. The circular shape has no front or back, helping all participants feel equally welcome around the conversation table.
Powering on your Hearth
The power button is the large silver metal button located on the bottom of your Hearth. With the power button you are able to:
- Turn the Hearth on
- Enter Bluetooth Pairing mode
- Turn the Hearth off
To turn on your Hearth press the power button. You should hear a tone and see the LED ring turn white. Your Hearth will automatically connect with the last device it was paired with.
Charging your Hearth
Locate the micro USB port located on the bottom of the Hearth. Plug in your micro USB charging cable, which is included in your case. It takes about six hours to fully charge a Hearth, and one charge can record over ten hours of conversation.
When the hearth is charging, the blue ring on the Power Button will blink on and off.
Checking your Battery Level
Press the battery button located on the bottom of the Hearth. The LED ring on your Hearth will turn one of three colors:
🟢 Green means there is more than three hours of battery remaining, giving you plenty of time to record a full conversation
🟡 Yellow means there is between one to three hours of battery remaining. If you see a Yellow ring while you are recording a conversation, you’ll have enough time to finish your conversation, but do not start a new one without charging it first.
🔴 Red means you have a low battery. Make sure to charge your Hearth before you record a conversation. Note: you can record a conversation while the Hearth is charging.
Recording a conversation
We suggest that you use Fora Live to record your conversation once your Hearth has been paired with a laptop, desktop, or mobile device. You can learn more here: Recording live on Fora
When you're ready, press record on your device. The LED ring on your Hearth will turn orange, which indicates that it's recording. When you stop recording on your device, the LED ring will turn white to indicate that it is no longer recording.
